Town of Fairfield - Deputy Tax Collector/Treasurer

The Town of Fairfield is seeking a highly qualified individual for the full-time position of Deputy Tax Collector and Deputy Treasurer. 

Employee is responsible for preparing payroll and accounts payable, as well as town wide purchasing. Other duties include backup coverage for the tax collector’s office which includes motor vehicle registrations, collection of taxes, and fees, and the preparation of a variety of state and municipal licenses. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Town Treasurer/Tax Collector with considerable independence of action in accordance with applicable laws and following generally accepted accounting practices.

Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll and accounts payable processing.  Must be skilled in working with the public and others in a courteous and professional manner; ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally; strong accounting skills, cash handling, data entry and computer skills necessary.  Municipal experience is preferred.

The Town of Fairfield uses Microsoft Office software products and TRIO Software.
