Assistant Deputy Treasurer-Ellsworth, Maine FULL TIME

The City of Ellsworth is seeking a highly qualified individual for the FULL-time position of Assistant Deputy Treasurer.

This individual is responsible for daily accounting operations, journal entries, analyzing revenues and expenses, reconciliation of the general ledger and assisting the Finance Director. Other duties could include backup coverage for the tax collector’s office which includes motor vehicle registrations, collection of taxes, and fees, and the preparation of a variety of state and municipal licenses.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Finance Director with considerable independence of action in accordance with applicable laws and following generally accepted accounting practices.

Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting.  Must be skilled in working with the public and others in a courteous and professional manner; ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally; strong accounting skills, cash handling, data entry and computer skills necessary.  Municipal experience is preferred.
