CITY OF SOUTH PORTLAND

COMMUNITY PLANNER

The City of South Portland is excited to recruit a Community Planner in the Planning Division. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic community on current and long range policy, including preparing the Comprehensive Plan update, implementing the newly-adopted One Climate Future plan, and updating/modernizing the City’s zoning and subdivision ordinances. The Division exists within the Planning & Development Department, and works closely with the Code and Economic Development divisions, as well as the Sustainability Office and other city departments.

This position requires expertise in development, land use, facilitating public hearings and engagement, and long range planning. The role participates in regular evening meetings, and will coordinate heavily with other agencies, staff, professional and amateur developers, as well the City Council, Boards, Committees, Commissions, and the public.
