Assistant to the Town Clerk


The Town of Monmouth is looking for someone who loves working in local government and assisting the public. This highly visible position is responsible for administering all state and local elections which includes, but is not limited to, providing nomination papers to local candidates; issuing, receiving and tracking absentee ballots; preparing the local ballots/warrants, and arranging for polling place use and staffing. The person in this position will be Registrar of Voters, which includes maintaining the voter list and verification of petition signatures. Issuance and maintenance of all vital records and town records are important duties.  A significant amount of time will be spent, along with other front office employees, assisting the public at the front counter with excise and other tax collection, dog licenses, marriage licenses, election related business, etc. We are looking for someone who is highly organized and able to prioritize the workload and who works well under strict deadlines.  Attention to detail is critical in this position and requires someone who understands and accepts that much of the work is dictated by federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
