FULL-TIME TRANSFER STATION OPERATOR
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
Description: The Town of Yarmouth is accepting applications for a Facility Operator position at the Transfer Station. This position includes weekend work and some overtime.
Duties Include: Performing a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks. Operating trucks, Bobcat, forklift, balers, compactors, bucket loader and other equipment. Assisting and directing users of the Transfer Station, and related work. Assisting Highway Department with winter maintenance or other duties as required.
Requirements & Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate will have a general mechanical ability; experience operating a truck, Bobcat, forklift, cardboard baler, compactor and bucket loader; and experience plowing snow. Excellent customer relations and communication skills, strong work ethic and a positive can-do attitude a must, as well as the willingness to work independently and as a team. A valid Maine Class B Driver’s License is required (or the ability to obtain one in 1 year), along with a High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior Transfer Station experience and DEP certifications, along with general knowledge of computers and technology a plus.
