The Town of Orono is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to perform municipal assessing services. The Town is open to discussing different options for completing these duties including but not limited to part-time, full-time or a contract with an organization/company. Individuals are encouraged to apply and organizations/businesses are encouraged to provide a proposal for services.
The Town of Orono’s Assessor is responsible for the inspection and assessment of all categories of the commercial, residential, and personal property for the Town of Orono. The position interacts with the public and must be able to explain the tax process, respond to abatement requests, maintain records of ownership, taxation records, property cards, land-use zoning maps, annual audits, BETR/BETE programs and other relevant assessing files and records.
The preferred candidate/business will be a Certified Maine Assessor with prior municipal work experience, as well as a thorough knowledge of real estate appraisal principles, techniques, procedures, laws and regulations. Experience with Trio & Vison software is desirable, as well as GIS/ESRI software and mapping principals.
