PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Department of Public Works is seeking a highly talented individual who will perform administrative and supervisory work in managing the activities of programs within the Department of Public Works.  This position acts as a project coordinator and/or manager on Public Works issues.  Essential duties will be to oversee the Department’s customer service programs, including review of SeeClickFix and City Works reports, interacting with Department members and City residents, using social media and the City website, meets with constituents and neighborhood groups and investigates and follows up on customer service issues; plans and sets up public meeting and outreach programs as necessary; oversees special projects as assigned by the Director or Deputy Director, such as achieving national accreditation; communicates and coordinates regularly with staff from all Department Divisions and other City Departments when required; anticipates needs and issues of City residents and develops appropriate responses; assists with implementing quality improvement teams and performs related work as required.  Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in public administration or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training; ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, work under pressure, handle competing priorities and meet deadlines; possess administrative skills including grant writing, recordkeeping, grand management, outcome measurement and quality assurance; excellent customer service, public relations and facilitation skills; ability to analyze a variety of administrative problems, make recommendations for a proactive solution and put them into effect; experience with social media applications, websites and computer software, such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, City Works and SeeClickFix; ability to develop and implement policies and procedures; familiarization with budgets and financial management; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Public Works employees, government officials, other City departments and the general public; ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  Necessary Special Requirements:  Must possess valid State of Maine Class C driver’s license and must have and maintain a good driving record.  Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of satisfactory criminal conviction background check.  Salary Range $59,826 to $71,429/year, based on qualifications and experience.
