SCADA Technician- City of Lewiston

GENERAL INFORMATION:            Department:    Public Works

Division:         Water & Sewer

Barg. Unit:      AFSCME- Professional Technical Unit (ProTech)

Status:             Full-Time 40+ hours/week

Grade:             6  $24.81 - $36.66/hour)

 

SUMMARY: The SCADA Technician maintains and enhances water and sewer technologies for the Lewiston Water & Sewer Division and the Auburn Water & Sewer District, playing a crucial role in maintaining quality and safety of drinking water and reducing environmental hazards.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six (6) to eight (8) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired candidates will have training and experience in instrumentation and process controls along with in depth knowledge of PLC programming and logic, along with understanding I/O for water and waste water systems to maintain regulatory compliance and high level operations. Qualified candidates must possess a Journeyman’s Electrical license, a State of Maine Class II Water license and a valid Maine class C driver’s license.

 

WORK ACTIVITIES: Maintains, designs, procures, builds, programs, installs and calibrates instrumentation and SCADA system and associated operations. Diagnoses and implements solutions to problems or malfunctions of process control devices and other division equipment. Assists in the development of new control schemes for pump stations or division facilities. Performs preventative maintenance including functionality tests, to ensure proper operation of electrical equipment. Develops specifications and trains staff, as required. Prepares budgetary estimates for operation, maintenance and capital improvements for the division, to include submitting recommendations around instrumentation and processes. Performs other duties as assigned.
