Assistant Director - Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust

The Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust provides high quality employee benefits and services to municipal, country government and special district employees, retirees and their dependents throughout the state as a self-insured, multiple employer plan. This challenging senior level position is responsible for oversight of an experienced team of professionals managing the Trust’s benefit programs and delivering member and employer group services.   

The Assistant Director will be involved in executing changes to Health Trust benefit programs and services, supervision of the management and field services staff, and coordination of Health Trust marketing and communications efforts, as well as compliance with state and federal employee benefit requirements and regulations. This position requires considerable interaction with other Maine Municipal Association staff, direct contact with the Health Trust Board of Trustees, Health Trust advisors, municipal officials and Trust business partners including third party administrators, insurance carriers and other vendors. 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of broad based experience at the management level, with strong emphasis on employee benefit administration and service delivery, ideally in a self-insured environment. A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business administration or a related field. A graduate degree is preferred. Must have the ability to work in a team environment. Experience in vendor management, member service call center operations, eligibility and billing systems, benefit plan design and health promotion is desired, as well as experience in interpreting utilization data and analyzing financial information.  Strong communication skills required. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, a plus.
