Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic - Town of Bucksport

Requirements:

The Town of Bucksport Maine is seeking qualified applicants for the position of fulltime firefighter/paramedic.  We provide EMS coverage to three towns with a population of nearly 8,500 residents, as well as fire coverage to 5,500 residents.  Applicants must be licensed at the AEMT level, and will be required to obtain their paramedic license within two years. Candidates with State of Maine FF1 and FF2 desired.  Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Applicants will be required to a pass a full background check, medical exam, and training assessment.

Wages: 

The rate of pay is $ 17.84 to $ 24.06.  In addition, fulltime employees receive an additional 6% added to their rate of pay for AEMT/Paramedic and FF2 certification.  Paramedics also receive an extra $10.83 per call when any ALS skills are utilized on an ambulance call.  A lateral entry at the Public Safety Director’s discretion is available based on training and experience.

Teamsters Professional Firefighters Local 340 Union insurance through Northern New England Benefit Trust (NNEBT) OAP-A8, along with vision and dental.

Retirement:

Maine State Retirement Plan A-4.  25/55

ICMA:  457-B plan. Employee contributions only

Social Security

Schedule:

Modified 24 hour shift, 56 hour work week.  53 hours paid, 4.5 hours comp time per week.

Sick Leave:  Up to 720 accumulating hours.
