Code Enforcement Officer-Town of Newcastle

The Town of Newcastle is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Code Enforcement Officer. This is a part time, salaried position. The ideal candidate will maintain office hours in Town Hall one day per week in addition to scheduling site visits and processing permit applications as needed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Issuing building, plumbing, and demolition permits; conducting building and plumbing inspections; enforcing the state and municipal zoning ordinances; maintaining liaison with appropriate state and local agencies; maintaining departmental records and reports; assisting the Planning Board with review of plans and proposals. Such other duties/responsibilities may be assigned by the Newcastle Town Manager.
Candidates will be required to have or obtain certification within 12 months as a certified Maine Code Enforcement Officer and as a Licensed Plumbing Inspector.
