Town of Canton Seeking Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Canton is accepting applications to fill a part-time Code Enforcement Officer/Licensed Plumbing Inspector/Building Inspector and E-911 Addressing Officer position. This position has traditionally required office hours consisting of 4 to 6 hours per week with the remaining work being performed as needed. The candidate must be capable of working within a team environment as well as individually. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for documenting and investigating complaints pertaining to zoning code violations, reviewing construction plans, monitoring the progress of projects through an inspection program, insuring compliance with relevant codes and statues, answering questions from the public regarding town ordinances and adopted codes, and reviewing permit applications including but not limited to land use, building, internal plumbing, signs, and subsurface wastewater disposal.

The position requires an individual certified by the State of Maine or the ability to obtain all certifications within a mandated time limit.  It requires knowledge of the Maine State Plumbing Code, the MUBEC, the State of Maine Shore Land Zoning, and the Town of Canton’s ordinances. This is a non-benefit position. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
