The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Correction Officers. You must be 19 years old, possess a high school diploma or G.E.D, and meet all criteria listed in the application packet and the entrance standards for the Basic Corrections Training Program located on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's website. Applicant must be able to attend eight (8), paid, 40-hour weeks of orientation/training.

Sign on Bonus:
All Correction officers will receive a $1000 sign on bonus. ($500 will be paid out after the successful completion of a 9-month probationary period, and $500 after completion of the second year of full-time status.)
Summary:
This is an investigative and protective services work whether full time or part time or in reserve capacity, involving custody, security, discipline, and rehabilitation of persons committed to a correctional facility. Work includes monitoring inmate behavior, directing and overseeing inmate activities, enforcing inmate discipline, and preparing incident reports. Work is performed under general supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Minimum 19 years of age.
2. High School Diploma/G.E.D.
3. Able to be successfully trained and certified as a Corrections Officer by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
Requirements:
1. Successfully pass a full personal, criminal, and motor vehicle background check.
2. Successfully complete physical assessment based on the Departmental Functional Job Description
3. Successfully complete a Polygraph
4. Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening
