The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach, is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant for the York Code Enforcement Department.
This candidate will work under the general supervision of the Director of Code Enforcement and in collaboration with the members of the Code Enforcement Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: responding to inquiries and questions from the public concerning the issuance of building, plumbing and electrical permits; maintains inspection schedule; organizes and maintains the filing system; responsible for maintaining and updating the online permitting and filing system, Claris (formerly Filemaker Pro); assists with the processing of permits including processing the fees for permits; responsible for all correspondence, records, and public notices for the Historic District Commission.
A high school diploma and at least three years of experience in general administrative or office work required. An understanding of basic accounting and budgeting principals and experience or familiarity with code enforcement or municipal government is desirable. Experience and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Access) and database management required. Experience with Claris (formerly Filemaker Pro) is preferred.
