Town of Freeport - Full time Firefighter/Paramedic

The Town of Freeport is currently seeking applications for the position(s) of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. This is a skilled Firefighting and EMS position consisting of Paramedic responsibilities, both emergency and non-emergency, as well combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires.  Work involves responding to a wide range of fire suppression and medical emergencies to ensure the stability and safety of our community. 

Shift starts at 0700 hours and is 24 hours on, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, 5 days off for an average work week of 42 hours.  Weekends, holidays, training and potential over time will be expected. 
Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree Fire or EMS related preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class C operator's license.
  • Maine EMT Paramedic license desired. 
  • Candidates with AEMT license, who intend to obtain a Paramedic qualification within a reasonable period are encouraged to apply.
  • State of Maine Firefighter I is required, Firefighter II certification desired.
  • Must be SCBA certified. 
  • Must be able to work rotating 24-hour shifts; including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and a post-offer physical exam.
