GENERAL INFORMATION:           Department:    Recreation

Status:             Full Time, 30 hours/week

Schedule:        Varies based on needs of the program

Grade:             12 [starting at $17.78/hour]


SUMMARY: Position is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating diversified programs for Lewiston’s older adult population, including providing administrative support to the Lewiston Senior Citizens Program.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years working with senior citizen or community programming; experience planning activities and events recommended but not required. Must have a valid State of Maine driver’s license in good standing.


WORK ACTIVITIES: Oversee Lewiston Senior Citizens Program registration, implementation, and annual membership. Perform administrative duties such as answering phone, computer program use, running errands and picking up supplies needed for LSC activities. Supervise program revenue and prepare financial reports. Survey leisure interests and needs of senior adults and create new program opportunities. Oversee classes, workshops and activities. Respond to public inquiries about senior adult programs by telephone, written correspondence, or during public meetings. Prepare various print media and related communications to promote interest in senior adult programs including updating website as needed. Set up facility for events and programs as required by the programs. Prepare necessary reports and records as required by the City of Lewiston and the Board of Directors. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
