Project Engineer - Portland Water District

Portland Water District is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team and be on the leading edge of new development in the greater Portland area.  The ideal candidate has experience working on engineering projects, and is knowledgeable about the water and/or wastewater industry.  The Project Engineer will manage water and wastewater system development projects for the District, which will include interfacing with engineers, contractors, and tradespeople.  The position requires both office and field work. 

The PWD Engineering group works collectively as a team to identify and deliver projects in order to improve infrastructure throughout the service area including water and sewer mains, pumping stations, and treatment facilities. As the Project Engineer, you will serve the leading role for PWD in the project delivery process which will require a strong degree of technical ability, organization, and professionalism. The Project Engineer is responsible for project scoping, estimating, hiring engineers, construction contract management, budget management, and startup/testing.

The Project Engineer position offers the opportunity to be involved in significant and critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the State of Maine. Four years of experience applicable to water/wastewater utility design, including construction and/or consulting preferred.  Two years in Asset Management preferred.  A qualified applicant shall have possession of, or ability to obtain within one hear of hire date, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Maine, and possession of, or ability to obtain within two years of hire, a Maine Class II Water Operator License.  A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline such as Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical is required.
