Maine Public Employees Retirement System seeks an Employer Services Technician to join the Employer Reporting department.
This work is focused on providing technical support to the State of Maine, teacher and participating local district employers within the Employer Reporting Unit. The incumbent must have knowledge of the statutes governing and the rules and regulations pertaining to the System. Responsibilities include determining compliance in reporting through review and analysis of payroll report information and forms. Incumbent also serves as primary liaison for a number of assigned employer payroll reporting contacts.
Primary job duties include: Provides highly detailed technical assistance to payroll/human resource/finance personnel of school districts, state agencies and participating local districts, assists with determining the accuracy of employers payroll data, and Explains general eligibility requirements. Obtains service and/or payroll records for members and/or employers through research and review of internal sources and obtaining required forms from employers. Reviews a variety of system-generated reports, documents and information provided electronically in order to monitor and assess compliance of employers with MainePERS payroll reporting procedures and practices. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of all rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to payroll reporting standards for both the MainePERS Defined Benefits plans and MaineSTART. Documents and monitors necessary adjustments, revisions and corrections to ensure proper follow up and resolution of employer payroll reporting issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma is required plus
Four (4) years of responsible, self-directed work experience in an office environment
Or A.S. degree in accounting or business administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Office work experience that demonstrates data gathering skills
Ability to apply complex mathematical computations
Familiarity with the use of computers and specialized software
Ability to retrieve information by utilizing a wide variety of resources.
