AUTO TECHNICIAN II (2 positions available) – Public Works Department - Fleet Services
Up to $2,500 sign on bonus available, plus hourly wage increase -
Schedule will be Monday thru Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (includes paid lunch break) –
The Department of Public Works seeks skilled individuals who will perform general service, overhaul and repair work on light and heavy-duty trucks and other automotive and mechanical equipment with a focus on heavy-duty. This position requires knowledge of diagnosis, operation of gasoline and diesel engines, and standard practices of the mechanic trade. Must possess valid Maine Class B driver’s license (Class A desired) or have ability to obtain within six (6) months (City will cover cost to help obtain Class A or B license). Must possess valid Vehicle Inspection License A, D & E (can obtain within 6 months) and must provide copies of license. Successful applicants must pass pre-employment medical exam and fitness assessment and pass federally mandated drug test upon attainment of CDL permit and must have and maintain a good driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check and positive reference check. Assignment and pay grade will be based on inspection license status, skills and driver’s license status.
Labor and Trades union position – Grade 24M-MCII, $973.60/week, plus an additional $1.00 market rate stipend per hour and $.50/hour for each ASE up to $4.00. Excellent benefit package which includes tool and clothing allowances, 13-1/2 paid holidays, health, dental, vision, life insurance and more.
