Town of Freeport Full Time Police Officer

Freeport is a coastal community of about 9000 residents with a strong retail base, including L.L. Bean. The police department includes 15 full time officers, full time Marine Patrol, 2 part time officers, clerical staff, and seasonal parking enforcement personnel.


  •  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have no adverse driving record. Applicants must hold a valid Maine drivers license at the time of employment.The Town of Freeport is an Equal Opportunity Employer

  • The minimum requirement for the position is the successful completion of all phases of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program. 

  • All applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test (MCJA Standards). Candidates having an Associate’s Degree or a combination of relevant training and experience will have an advantage. Preference may be given to graduates of the MCJA  Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.

An extensive background investigation, including psychological, polygraph, and medical examinations will be part of the process.
