Grading of Gravel Roads

Two-year commitment

Town of Chelsea

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids (marked on the front (“Grading Bid”) will be received by the Road Commissioner of the Town of Chelsea for the following work: Grading of Gravel Roads in the Towns of Chelsea listed in Appendix A.

Completion Date: 2023

Spring 1st Grading - Work to be completed by 5pm May 26, 2023 weather permitting.

Fall 2nd Grading - Work to be completed by 5pm September 29, 2023 weather permitting.

Completion Date: 2024

Spring 1st Grading - Work to be completed by 5pm May 24, 2024 weather permitting.

Fall 2nd Grading - Work to be completed by 5pm September 27, 2024 weather permitting.

Minimum Equipment: A Self-propelled articulated road grader of at least 27,000lb GVW shall be required.

Operator: Grader operator shall have a minimum 9 years documented experience as a grader operator. Roads shall be graded in accordance with generally accepted grading standards as established by the Maine D.O.T. and additional specifications provided.

Contractor will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a proper work zone in accordance with M.U.T.C.D. 2009 Edition

Bids must be completed and returned by mail or in person to the Chelsea Town Office 560 Togus Road, Chelsea ME 04330 on or before 2:00p.m. Wednesday April 12, 2023. Bids received after that time will not be considered. The bidder should also include with their bid a copy of the grader’s most recent registration, the qualifications of the grader operator, proof of General Liability Insurance in the amount of $ 500,000, proof of Workers Comp Insurance and a list of all the variations from specifications. Bids will be accepted on a project basis only and will be valid for 30 days. The Towns reserve the right to waive all formalities and to reject any and all bids.
