The Portland Water District is searching for a Chief Operator/Supervisor for our Water Treatment Facility. This opening is a regular, full-time position, which focuses on the technical, administrative and supervisory tasks necessary to maintain the treatment, pumping and storage of high-quality potable water, while maintaining regulatory compliance and fostering a team environment with a multi-skilled staff.
The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the Sebago Lake Water Treatment Facility, along with six remote pump stations, eleven water storage tanks and several other associated facilities. In addition, the person will prepare operational budgets and coordinate the efforts of ten employees to manage the operation, maintenance and repair of assets at these facilities.
The preferred individual will possess a two or four-year college degree in a related field and five years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related (mechanical/engineering/electrical/operations) experience. This requirement may be substituted with five to seven (5-7) years of commensurate experience. In addition, candidates should have experience with process control, a demonstrated ability to prioritize initiatives, be able to function in a team environment, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is also required.
