Foundations and Ground Conditions:
Ground conditions dictate which type of foundation should be used based on a combination of factors including soil type, subsurface obstructions, geographic location, groundwater levels, corrosion potential, topography, and local building code requirements. A representative of S.W. Cole will discuss these factors and the affects they can have on foundation design.
Foundations safely transfer the loads of a structure to the soil. Individual components of the foundation, such as footings, stem walls, rebar, piers, and grade beams, work in unison to provide the transfer of loads. Eric Dube from Trillium Engineering will discuss foundation components and walk attendees through a sample project.
