Job Summary:

The City of Ellsworth seeks an enthusiastic and customer service-oriented Deputy City Clerk to serve as the first point of contact for the Clerk and Tax Departments. The Deputy City Clerk performs a variety of complex administrative duties including collection of real estate and personal property taxes, motor vehicle registrations, issuance of Inland Fisheries licenses, election duties, voter record maintenance, and vital records issuance and maintenance. The ideal candidate will strive for excellence in customer service and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service:
  • Assisting citizens and customers with general inquiries
  • Motor vehicle registration
  • Inland Fisheries Licensing
  • Vital record issuance
  • Vital records maintenance
  • Answering phone inquiries
  • Process real estate tax, personal property tax, water, wastewater, and trash payments.
  • Issue dog licenses
  • Processes marriage licenses
  • Serves as Notary Public (Certification is not needed for application).

 

  • Elections:
  • Voter registration.
  • Issues ballots
  • Absentee ballot processing
  • Election site setup
  • Ballot and voter machine testing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of progressive experience in customer service and clerical/administrative work.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to provide high level of customer service.
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Salary:

$44,500-$48,000. The City of Ellsworth offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees in both their professional and personal lives.
