Job Summary:

The City of Ellsworth seeks a dedicated and skilled Wastewater Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater treatment systems, ensuring that our facilities run efficiently and in compliance with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of plant equipment and systems.
• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Adjust treatment processes as necessary based on test results and operational data.
• Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance testing.
• Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous plant operations.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize treatment processes and improve plant efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State licensing as a Wastewater Operator (or ability to obtain license within two years of hire).
• Any equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Skills:

• Experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including rotating on-call duties, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

 

Salary:

$50,960-$60,000. The City of Ellsworth offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees in both their professional and personal lives.
