The City of South Portland is currently seeking a full time Recreation Coordinator – Youth Programs to join our team and help grow this highly visible position that is responsible for delivery of key programs for the Community.

The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for creating, organizing and operating all sports &enrichment programs for the youth of South Portland. Oversees instructors, officials and other part-time and/or temporary employees of Youth programs and activities. The Recreation Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Manager of Youth, Adult and Senior Programs. This position offers a flexible work schedule and will include occasional nights and weekend work.

Education: Associate’s degree in recreation, physical education, human services, or a related field required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with youth programming is required. Previous work experience within a municipality preferred.  

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class “C” driver’s license throughout employment and must have their own reliable transportation for possible work-day transportation between city buildings.

Starting salary range is currently $25.32 - $29.25 per hour, ($49,374 - $57,038 annually) depending on experience. The position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
