Accepting applicants for CUSTODIAN with the Lewiston Public Works Department. Applications are available at the Human Resources Department or online at www.lewistonmaine.gov

GENERAL INFORMATION:           Division:          Buildings Maintenance

                                                            Barg. Unit:      AFSCME Public Works

                                                            Status:             Full Time, Evening shift (40 hrs/week)

                                                            Grade:             1 [starting at $18.90/hour]

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years custodial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid Maine driver’s license in good standing.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, shampoo and/or spray buff all floors. May strip and wax floors. Clean restrooms and supply/restock with necessary items. Dust and wash walls, windows, vents and radiators. Clean elevators and stairways, and polish furniture. Remove trash and recyclables, including picking up trash/debris outside the building(s). Raise and lower flags, when appropriate. Remove snow and spread sand on sidewalk, parking area and walkways, as needed. Operate light trucks and equipment as needed to complete position functions. Must be available for overtime, emergencies, and/or snow removal operations. Write weekly activity reports and communicate all equipment malfunctions or other serious concerns to the Building Maintenance Superintendent. Maintains courteous demeanor and cooperates with citizens, City employees and community groups authorized to use building(s) and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
