Deputy Treasurer & Public Works Administrative Assistant (Kennebunkport)

Training for: Finance, Public Works

One of the best towns on Maine’s coast is seeking a detail-oriented, fun person to join our team. If you think it’s cool to put everything in Excel, but you also enjoy talking to the public about their trash collection, then we need you! You will be assisting not just one, but two departments in all things town-related: payroll, accounts receivable, benefits forms, customer service, committee support, and activity coordinator. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and superior interpersonal skills. We are seeking an MVP to contribute to our success.

This full-time position is responsible for all duties associated with payroll, benefits, and public works administrative duties. Once fully trained in the position, candidates will need an understanding of municipal payroll and accounting, office procedures, and customer service. The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree or two-year college certificate in business administration, accounting, human resources, or a related field with three years of experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

The starting pay is $28.48/hour, with many wonderful benefits. Our aim is to create a workplace where you can learn, grow, and continuously refine your skills. The Town of Kennebunkport is an equal opportunity employer where we believe in supporting our workforce's health and well-being with a valuable total compensation package, including:

  • Work-Life Balance – Rest is essential. Take time for yourself using 13.5 paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, and 2 weeks of vacation leave annually.
  • Health Insurance Coverage– Kennebunkport pays 85% of health insurance premium.
  • Retirement Plan– Kennebunkport contributes to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS), and/or ICMA 457 program on behalf of the employee.
  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts– Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
  • Living Resources Program – Navigate challenging work and life situations with our employee assistance program.
  • Parental leave is one of the most important benefits for any working parent. All employees who are welcoming a child—including fathers and adoptive parents—receive 10 workdays of fully paid parental complementing leave.
  • Career Advancement – training and tuition reimbursement programs.

Join us in making Kennebunkport the best customer service town on the coast. Please submit a town application, resume, and letter of interest to Yanina Nickless, Human Resources Director, at ynickless@kennebunkportme.gov.

The position will remain open until filled; the review of resumes will be on a rolling basis.
