Deputy Treasurer/HR Assistant - Kennebunkport (24-32 hours)

The Town of Kennebunkport is seeking a Deputy Treasurer/ Deputy Human Resource Coordinator who is a motivated problem solver to join the Finance/Human Resource Team. The individual administers payroll, accounts receivable, and the human resource function for the Town, following applicable Town procedures and confidentiality protocol. The individual should be a “people person” who enjoys helping others. They will assist in all other Finance Department functions and support the Town Manager’s office. Applicants must possess a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and superior interpersonal skills. The Finance Department measures success by the achievements of the entire team. We are seeking an MVP to contribute to our success.

This part-time job is between 24-32 hours/week with an hourly rate commensurate with experience, starting at $26.74/h. The duties include but not limited to:

  • Preparing and processing weekly payroll.
  • Assists with year-end reports and documents such as 1095's and W-2s, health, life insurance, and retirement adjustments.
  • Assisting in preparing daily deposits.
  • Responsible for the organization of files within the finance and HR departments.
  • Provides assistance with all town bank account reconciliations per the direction of the Treasurer.
  • Updates official employee personnel files, as well as perform the administration of various human resource duties, under the guidance of the Treasurer and HR Director.
  • Runs reports for department heads and Select Board in the absence of the Treasurer.
  • Cross trains to perform the town’s accounts payable process and provides backup in the absence of the Treasurer.
  • Sets up new hires in the payroll system as needed.
  • Provides assistance to the Treasurer in gathering information for annual audits, including the audited financial statements and Maine PERS.
  • Assists the Treasurer with data entry relating to the budget and any other requirements.
  • Provides other duties as assigned by the Treasurer.
