GENERAL INFORMATION:           Division:          Economic & Community Development

                                                           Barg. Unit:       AFSCME-Professional Technical Unit

Status:             Full Time, Exempt (37.5 hours/week)

Class Grade:   6 [starting at $58,246.50 annual]

SUMMARY: Assists in supporting and attracting development and investment in the City with a focus on the redevelopment and revitalization of Lewiston. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who is highly motivated to make a difference for the citizens of Lewiston, and is able to interact effectively with a diverse population of citizens and business owners.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s (BA) degree or higher in the areas of public policy/administration, economic/community development, planning, economics, business or related field, and preferably two (2) to four (4) years of professional experience in economic or community development, land use, planning, business or public administration or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license, in good standing, and a reliable vehicle for use at work.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Promote the City of Lewiston to attract business and community-related development activities, to include conducting economic and demographic research and analysis related to the area’s business climate and labor market data. Coordinate and prepare comprehensive location packages including all relevant information regarding zoning, taxes, utilities, demographics, transportation and more for the desired area. Assist clients with financial proposals including information on available assistance or incentives available from Lewiston, the State of Maine, and other funding sources. Assist in development of marketing materials for the City. Prepare and deliver presentations to the City Council, boards and committees. Display working knowledge of tax increment financing, marketing, real estate sales/development, economic/demographic research and analysis, policy analysis and zoning and land use ordinances. Perform other duties as assigned.
