MMTCTA’s Governmental Accounting Workshop

Who Should Attend:
All newly elected/appointed Treasurers should attend. Both days are mandatory to receive certification.

Workshop Topics:
Governmental accounting concepts build off of general accounting concepts and introduce a level of complexity that municipal tax collectors and treasurers are required to understand and apply. This workshop is designed as a review of basic general accounting concepts and ties them to governmental accounting concepts, showing similarities and (more importantly) the difference between the two methods.

**NOTE: This is not an introduction to Accounting course.**

Cancellations for MMTCTA Workshops:
Cancellations must be submitted using this Cancellation form to cancel your registration for an event. Cancellations received before August 16, 2024 will be assessed a $15 administrative fee for processing. Cancellations received on/after August 16, 2024 will be charged 50% of the course fee. Any cancellation received the day of the event will be charged the full registration fee. Certification:
Participants must sign in at the beginning of the course and be present for both days to receive a certificate. Certificates will be handed out after the second day class and will not be mailed. If you do not pick up your certificate after the class, you will not receive credit for attending. For attendees who must leave early for emergency situations; a determination will be made by the Professional Development Committee of the Executive Board as to the nature of the emergency and whether a sufficient portion of the course was covered to warrant certification credit. *Any member whose certification expires must attain their original certification again.

Government Accounting can be used in the Maine Municipal Tax Collectors’ & Treasurers’ Association Certification Program.  Must attend both days to receive certification. You are responsible to pick up and keep your certificate after each training. The MMTCTA does not reproduce certificates after a training session.
