Course information:

This class is a basic level class covering Legal Issues relevant to Tax Collectors & Treasurers.

The Attorneys will cover material that is discussed in the following manuals - MMA Tax Collectors & Treasurers manual; MMA Municipal Liens manual; MMA Municipal Assessment manual. Attendees are not required to bring copies of the manuals to class. While not required, these manuals are available to purchase online at https://ebiz.memun.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Store or by calling the MMA Publications department at (800) 452-8786. Manuals may also be downloaded for free from MMA’s website (www.memun.org), under the Legal header, click on "Legal Manuals".

Cancellations for MMTCTA Workshops: Cancellations must be submitted using this Cancellation form to cancel your registration for an event. Cancellations received before 10/11/24 will be assessed a $15 administrative fee for processing. Cancellations received on/after 10/11/24 will be charged 50% of the course fee. Any cancellation received the day of the event will be charged the full registration fee. Certification: This Municipal Law for Tax Collectors or Treasurers course is an MMTCTA mandatory course for the Maine Municipal Tax Collectors’ and Treasurers’ Certification Program. Participants must sign in at the beginning of the course and be present for the full day to receive a certificate. Certificates will be handed out after the class and will not be mailed. If you do not pick up your certificate after the class, you will not receive credit for attending. For attendees who must leave early for emergency situations; a determination will be made by the Professional Development Committee of the Executive Board as to the nature of the emergency and whether a sufficient portion of the course was covered to warrant certification credit. *Any member whose certification expires must attain their original certification again.
