Course Information:
What is an Athenian Dialogue?
These dialogues explore leadership principles and ethics of a character[s] in a pre-approved book. With a maximum of 30 people, we share our professional and personal experiences as they relate to the content of the book. We examine our role as leaders, as mentors in our community and seek solutions or shortcuts to improve difficult situations.
About our book:
All the Light We Cannot See is a 2014 war novel by American author Anthony Doerr. The novel is set during World War II. It revolves around the characters Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl who takes refuge in her great-uncle's house in Saint-Malo after Paris is invaded by Nazi Germany, and Werner Pfennig, a bright German boy who is accepted into a military school because of his skills in radio technology. The book alternates between paralleling chapters depicting Marie-Laure and Werner, framed with a nonlinear structure. The novel has a lyrical writing style, with critics noting extensive sensory details. The story has ethical themes, portraying the destructive nature of war and Doerr's fascination with science and nature. [Excerpt from Wikipedia]
About our Facilitator, Dawn Michanowicz, MMC, CMMC:
Dawn is a popular facilitator who brings creativity, joy and humor to her dialogues. She has worked 20 years in local government before retiring as a Master Town Clerk in Massachusetts. Raised overseas, her dream was to join the US Foreign Service. In the 1970’s discrimination against women prevented that. After college she moved to New York City, eventually starting her own import/export company. When her health began to fail, she discovered holistic modalities that changed her life. Today she is an Advanced Practitioner of Energy Medicine. She readily shares her mindfulness nuggets in her seminars. See more at www.SacredMountain/dialogues
