Course Information:

This training, State Elections Title 21-A, is a class that covers all aspects of administering state and federal elections on the municipal level.

Topics to be covered in the workshop include:

  • Election officials and their various duties
  • The process for opening the voting place
  • Preparing for Election Day
  • Responsibilities for posting the Notice of Election
  • Conducting absentee voting
  • Voting place layout
  • Election day duties and related responsibilities of the Clerk and others
  • Accessible voting
  • Procedures for closing the voting place
  • Tabulating results

 

Clerks who have never conducted an election before are strongly encouraged to attend.

 

MTCCA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM:

This program is a REQUIRED course for the Maine Town & City Clerks’ Association Certification Program. Participants must be present for the full day to receive a certificate of completion for the course. Please visit www.MTCCA.org for further details and the certification application.

CONFIRMATION:

An official registration confirmation for this TITLE 21-A  training will be emailed to each registrant ONE WEEK prior to the training.

 

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE:

 A certificate of attendance will be provided to you onsite on the day of the training and MUST be picked up at the event. Certificates of attendance are not mailed or reproduced.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations must be submitted using this Cancellation form to cancel your registration for an event. Cancellations received before 8/29/24 will be assessed a $15 administrative fee for processing. Cancellations received on/after 8/29/24 will be charged 50% of the course fee. Any registrant who does not attend and does not cancel their registration (i.e., no-show) and any cancellation received the day of the event will be charged the full registration fee. Exceptions to this policy will not be considered.

MTCCA is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of professional development of municipal clerks by providing education and networking opportunities which enhance the level of service to our communities.

Attendance at MTCCA educational sessions is limited to appointed or elected clerks and other municipal employees. Educational sessions relating to Title 21-A and Title 30-A may be attended by a Registrar or Deputy Registrar of Voters, Wardens or other municipal election officials, as space is available. Preference will be given to Regular Members of the Association. Only Regular Members will be eligible to receive continuing educational points for education sessions.

Classes sponsored by MTCCA at the annual Maine Municipal Association Conference and Athenian Dialogue fundraisers are exempt from membership restrictions.

Municipalities with vacancies in the municipal clerk position may request that another duly appointed municipal official attend a class in the absence of a clerk.
