Parks Maintenance Worker - Town of Scarborough

Starting annual salary range ($47,112 - $53,340) based on experience
 
The Town of Scarborough’s Community Services Department is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker I or II. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position which involve semi-skilled manual labor performing various tasks and operating equipment used in the maintenance of recreational fields and town parks, and in the general repair of buildings and equipment. Employees in this class are responsible for the upkeep of a variety of athletic and municipal facilities and the safe and efficient operation of various maintenance equipment. Work involves mowing, painting athletic fields, and keeping parks and facilities clean. Work is performed under the supervision of the Parks and Grounds Division.

Position Requirements: Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment used in the mowing and upkeep of athletic fields and municipal grounds. Ability to operate trucks and lighter motorized equipment safely and according to laws and regulations. Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments and service automotive equipment.  Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time under adverse climatic conditions with the capacity of physical strength and agility sufficient to perform all assignments of the job classification. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, as required. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license and have demonstrated a good driving record.
 
Desirable Experience (PMW I & II): Experience in athletic field maintenance. Considerable experience with vehicles and field maintenance equipment.
 
Desirable Experience (PMW II): Extensive experience in athletic field management. Strong understanding of organic turf management. Experience and skills relating to irrigation, construction, masonry and tree care.
 
In lieu of the above, any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered at the discretion of the Town of Scarborough.
