Public Works Laborer - Full time, seasonal - Town of Carmel

The Town of Carmel is accepting applications for a full time, seasonal employee in our Public Works Department. The season usually starts around April 1st into late fall/early winter; weather permitted. Hours are Monday-Friday 6:00a-2:30p, with a ½ hour lunch. Shifts are weather dependent.
Active individuals who enjoy working outdoors will help maintain the Town’s municipal properties including athletic fields, parks, cemeteries, trails, and buildings. Qualified individuals will have demonstrated experience using typical landscaping tools, such as a weed whacker, lawn mower and gardening tools. Candidates should also be familiar with the use of light carpentry equipment such as hand drills, circular saw, and other minor tools, and possess a working knowledge of trail work. Duties will also include assisting in the repair of roads including patching; and transporting dirt, gravel, wood, and construction materials.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 75 pounds and work safely in most summer weather conditions is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply. Must hold a valid State of Maine Class C motor vehicle license.
Pay starts at $17.50 per hour and is commensurate with experience. Successful candidates that remain employed through the season will be eligible for a $250 bonus.
