Duties:  The Town Administrator works directly for North Haven’s Select Board, supporting the Board in its duties and responsibilities, and administering the Town’s government in accordance with Maine state law, regulations, and policies, as well as North Haven’s ordinances and policies and the Board’s direction.  The Town Administrator supports the Town’s employees and volunteers and coordinates their activities to ensure the municipal government functions smoothly and effectively.  The Town Administrator also serves as the principal point of contact in relations with the community as well as external organizations, such the county and state governments.

 

Required Skills & Characteristics:  Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to recognize, frame, and solve problems.  Additionally, the position requires organizational skills, communication skills, customer service skills, computer skills, attention to detail, initiative, facility with financial accounts, cooperation and ability to get along well with and assist other members of the office and customers - occasionally in a fast-paced or tense situation, ability to learn and put newly acquired knowledge into action, and an ability to keep track of multiple tasks and follow them through to completion. 

 

Nature of Position, Schedule, Work Hours:  The Town Office’s customer-service hours are from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Office is staffed from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm each day. In addition to regular weekly hours, the Town Administrator is expected to work occasionally on weekends or late into the evening.  This is a full time (40 hr./wk.) position.

 

Pay and Benefits:  The position pays $42.89 to $48.26 per hour, depending on experience.  Benefits include paid holidays, accrued vacation and sick leave, a voluntary retirement plan (similar to a 401(k)), health, and dental insurance.
